What is JEE MAINS Exam?

The NTA JEE Mains exam is a national-level entrance test conducted by the National Testing Agency (NTA) for admission to undergraduate engineering, architecture, and planning programs at top institutions like NITs, IIITs, and CFTIs in India. It also serves as the eligibility test for the JEE Advanced exam, which is organized to test students’ eligibility for admission to the IITs. The exam is held in two papers: Paper 1 for B.E./B.Tech and Paper 2 for B.Arch and B.Planning. 

the JEE Main exam is conducted twice a year, typically in January (Session 1) and April (Session 2). Candidates can choose to appear for one or both sessions, and their best score is used for their overall ranking.

  • Exam Mode: CBT (Computer Based Test) except for Drawing in B.Arch.
  • Total Marks: Paper I will be of 300 marks while Paper II-A & Paper II-B will be of 400 marks each.

  • Exam Duration: The exam duration will be 3 hours for each paper.
  • Marking Scheme: There will be 1/4th negative marking for every wrong answer except for Drawing paper.
  • Exam Language: The exam will be bilingual (English and Hindi language).
