Candidates who qualify the AFCAT 1 2026 written examination will receive call letters from the Indian Air Force to appear for the next phase of selection, known as the AFSB Testing.

AFSB Testing – Stage 1

Stage 1 consists of two tests:

  • Officer Intelligence Rating (OIR) Test
  • Picture Perception and Discussion Test (PP&DT)

This stage acts as a screening round. Candidates who fail to qualify in Stage 1 will not be allowed to proceed to Stage 2 of AFSB Testing.

AFSB Testing – Stage 2

Candidates who clear Stage 1 must report for Stage 2, which includes the following assessments:

Computerized Pilot Selection System (CPSS): Applicable only to candidates opting for the Flying Branch. This test evaluates psychomotor skills and pilot aptitude.

Psychological Tests: Conducted by trained psychologists to evaluate personality traits and mental suitability.

Group Testing: A series of group-based tasks designed to assess teamwork, leadership, reasoning, and physical coordination.

AFSB Interview: A personal interview conducted by an interviewing officer to assess overall suitability for commissioning.

The exam pattern for Indian Airforce AFCAT 1/2026 is as follows:

  • Exam Mode: CBT (Multiple Choice Questions).
  • Total Marks: 300.
  • No. of Questions: 100.
  • Exam Time: 120 minutes (2 Hours).
  • Marking Scheme: There is a negative marking of 1 mark for every wrong answer.
  • Exam Language: Bilingual (Both English and Hindi).

Here is a step-by-step guide for “How to apply Indian Airforce AFCAT 1/2026 Online Form”:

  • Registration: Click on the Apply-Now button below in the Important Links Section and Click on the Register button on next page. Here you can register using Digilocker or you can create a Digilocker Account if you don’t have one. Else you can also reginer by filling up you details manually. After verifying you account using OTP you will receive a system generated password in you E-Mail account. Login using the password and create a new password of you own.
  • Application Form: After Completing the Registration fill in the details in all steps.
  • Photo Instruction : Passport size recent colour photograph (taken not before January 2025) of size 10 KB to 50 KB (front portrait in light background without head gear except for Sikhs). The photograph is to be taken with candidate holding a black slate in front of his chest with his name and date of photograph taken, clearly written on it with white chalk in capital letter.
  • Preview the application form.
  • Submit Application: Pay the application fee online (If applicable) then final submit the application form.
  • Take printout of application from after submission or else save as pdf.
