Eligibility criteria for CSIR UGC NET December 2025 Online Form is as follows:

Assistant Professor / JRF
  • Master’s Degree or equivalent from a recognized university/institution.
  • Minimum 55% marks (General / EWS) or 50% marks (OBC-NCL / SC / ST / PwD / Third Gender).
  • Candidates appearing in or awaiting results of Master’s Degree can apply provisionally and must complete their degree within 2 years (or 1 year for Ph.D.-only category) with required marks.
  • Ph.D. holders who completed their Master’s before 19 September 1991 get a 5% relaxation (from 55% to 50%).
  • Third gender candidates receive the same relaxation in age, fee, and eligibility as SC/ST/PwD categories.
JRF / Ph.D. Admission (Based on 4-Year Bachelor’s Degree)
  • 4-year / 8-semester Bachelor’s Degree with at least 75% marks or equivalent grade.
  • 5% relaxation for SC / ST / OBC (NCL) / PwD / EWS candidates.
  • Eligible only for JRF and Ph.D. Admission — not for Assistant Professor.
  • Final-year candidates may apply provisionally and must complete their degree within 2 years (for JRF) or 1 year (for Ph.D.-only).
  • Can appear in the subject in which they wish to pursue a Ph.D., irrespective of their graduation discipline.
Foreign Qualification Holders
  • Must hold a qualification equivalent to a Master’s Degree recognized by the UGC.
  • Should obtain an equivalence certificate from the University Grants Commission (UGC) or the Association of Indian Universities (AIU).

The National Testing Agency (CSIR) conducts the UGC NET 2025 exam across 224 cities throughout India. Candidates can choose their preferred exam cities while filling out the NTA UGC NET application form.

The CSIR UGC NET Exam will be conducted in two shifts on 18-12-2025. Shift 1 will be from 09:00 AM to 12:00 Noon and Shift will be from 03:00 PM to 06:00 PM. The exam will cover five subjects which are Chemical Sciences, Earth/Atmospheric/Ocean/Planetary Sciences, Life Sciences, Mathematical Sciences, and Physical Sciences. The candidates will have to choose one subject for the exam. Here is the complete exam pattern:

  • Exam Mode: CBT (Computer Based Test). Multiple choice questions will be asked in every exam.
  • Total Marks: Each exam will be conducted for a total of 200 marks.
  • No. of Questions: Differ paper wise (check below table).
  • No. of Sections in each exam: There will be 3 sections in each exam, part Part-A, Part-B and Part-C.
  • Exam Duration: Exam duration for every exam is 3 Hours.
  • Exam Shirts: Thre will be two shifts in this exam. Shift 1 will be from 09:00 AM to 12:00 Noon and Shift will be from 03:00 PM to 06:00 PM.
  • Marking Scheme: The marking scheme differs for each paper and section. There is negative marking in most of the papers except for Mathematical Sciences’ Part-C. Check below table for more info.
  • Exam Language: The exam will be bilingual (English and Hindi language).

Register using any of the given method. Verify OTP and fill in the registration details on next page. Note You Application ID.
  • Receive Credentials: After successful registration, you will receive a password via SMS on your registered mobile number and a user ID via email.
  • Form Fill up: Fill in the required details, verify the E-Mail and complete the payment.
  • Submit Application: Preview the application form and final submit the form
  • Take printout of application from after submission and/or else save as pdf.
