Eligibility criteria for NTA UGC NET December 2025 Online Form is as follows:

Assistant Professor / JRF
  • Master’s Degree or equivalent from a UGC-recognized university in Humanities, Social Science (including Languages), Computer Science, Applications, Electronic Science, etc.
  • Minimum 55% marks (General / EWS) or 50% marks (OBC-NCL / SC / ST / PwD / Third Gender).
  • Candidates appearing in or awaiting result of Master’s Degree can apply provisionally and must complete their degree with required marks within 2 years (1 year for Ph.D.-only category).
  • Ph.D. holders who completed their Master’s by 19 Sept 1991 get a relaxation of 5% (from 55% to 50%).
  • Candidates should appear in the subject of their post-graduation; if not listed, they may choose a related subject.
JRF / Ph.D. Admission (Based on 4-Year Bachelor’s Degree)
  • 4-year / 8-semester Bachelor’s Degree with at least 75% marks or equivalent grade.
  • 5% relaxation for SC / ST / OBC (NCL) / PwD / EWS categories.
  • Eligible only for JRF and Ph.D. Admission — not for Assistant Professor.
  • Final-year candidates can apply provisionally and must complete the degree within 2 years (JRF) / 1 year (Ph.D.-only).
Foreign Qualification Holders
  • Must possess a qualification equivalent to a Master’s Degree recognized by UGC.
  • Should obtain equivalence certificate from the University Grants Commission (UGC) or Association of Indian Universities (AIU).

The National Testing Agency (NTA) conducts the UGC NET 2025 exam across 224 cities throughout India. Candidates can choose their preferred exam cities while filling out the UGC NET application form.

Two papers will be conducted for UGC NET Exam. Here is the complete exam pattern:

  • Exam Mode: CBT (Computer Based Test).
  • Total Marks: Paper I will be of 100 marks while Paper II will be of 200 marks.
  • No. of Questions: 50 questions will be asked in Paper I and 100 questions will be asked in Paper. All questions are MCQs containing 2 marks each.
  • Exam Duration: 180 minutes (3 Hours).
  • Marking Scheme: There is no negative marking in this exam in any of the papers.
  • Exam Language: The exam will be bilingual (English and Hindi language).

  • Submit Application: Preview the application form and final submit the form
