The EMRS Principal selection process includes 3 stages:

  • Prelims Exam (Screening test for selection in Tier 2 Exam),
  • Subject Knowledge Exam and
  • Personal Interview.

The EMRS Prelims and Subject Knowledge Exam Pattern is given below:

  • Total Marks: 100.
  • No. of Questions: 100 Multiple Choice Questions (MCQs)
  • Exam Mode: Offline exam (OMR based)
  • Exam Duration: 120 minutes (2 Hours).
  • Marking Scheme: 1/4th of the total marks (for the respective question) will be deducted for every wrong answer.
  • Exam Language: The exam will be bilingual (English and Hindi)

  • No. of Questions: 100 + 30 questions for Languages competency test (Multiple Choice Questions (MCQs)).
  • Exam Mode: Offline exam (OMR based).
  • Exam Duration: 150 minutes (2 Hours 30 Minutes).
  • Marking Scheme: 1/4th of the total marks (for the respective question) will be deducted for every wrong answer.
  • Exam Language: The exam will be bilingual (English and Hindi but there will be a separate regional language test).

The EMRS Non-Teaching Staff includes the posts of Hostel Warden (Male & Female), Accountant, Female Staff Nurse, Junior Secretariat Assistant and Lab Assistant. This exam pattern for these posts are almost identical. Here are some common parameters in the exam:

  • Marks: 100.
  • No. of Questions: 100.
  • Type of Questions:
    • Prelims: Objective.
    • Mains: Objective + Descriptive.
  • Prelims Exam Duration: 2 Hours.
  • Mains Exam Duration: 3 Hours.

The EMRS Principal Exam 2025 will be conducted to determine the academic, administrative, and leadership capabilities of the candidates. The Prelims syllabus assesses candidates’ knowledge in Reasoning, General Awareness, Academic Knowledge, Administrative Skills, and Language Competency (General Hindi & General English). The Mains exam primarily focuses on subject knowledge related to Academic and Residential Aspects, as well as Administration and Finance.
